Doryoku Race Bar’s philosophy of use & design
We designed this to be the best value bar on the market when it comes to weight, construction, design, add on options, price and total value. All bars are designed by scanning the OEM bumper bar/foam/support so that we can ensure the best fit and follow the existing shape. The race bar is intended to provide many performance benefits for track car applications (drag /road race) while allowing the user to customize the bar as they grow in the sport.

Custom Options
☆ Extended dual tow hooks
Dual hooks can be faced outward and would require a 1/4" wide slit in the bumper for hooks to slide through OR faced down if your lower bumper valance is cut off. These hooks would make it easy for tiedown transport on trailer or dyno. They do extend past the bumper cover by approx 1.75" if you face them outward. Consulting will be provided before fab.
☆ Hidden Universal tow strap bracket
This welded bracket allows for universal tow straps to be bolted on. You will need to make a horizontal slit in the bumper cover for the strap to pull through. Consulting will be provided before fab. Check out the Doryoku Bolt-on Tow Strap
☆ Recessed CNC M12 tow bung
Welded CNC M12 bung allows for thread in style tow strap which is common on modern cars such as S2000, FRS BRZ, BMW, Corvette, Porsche, VW Audi sports cars. We can place this anywhere on the bar (passenger, driver, center). I recommend this on the passenger side away from the exhaust. For the stealth option, you can place it in the license plate cavity where it's already open access (see pic). You would then remove the plate when on track or drill hole through the plate to access the M12. Please specify in the "Special Instructions" Check out the Doryoku Billet Tow Strap
☆Matte black over Zinc
Zinc plating is ideal for open-tube style parts where powder coating may not be able to reach into inner cavities. Powder coating can be applied on top of zinc plating.
NOTE : Front bar will includes zinc yellow OR matte black but REAR bar includes zinc.
☆ Custom powder coating
I stock over 35 popular colors. Powders are available in wrinkle, matte & gloss. If you select "Powder Coat - Custom", please note a few colors you would like and we will reach out to you to confirm & provide color samples.
Engineering Design Notes
☆ In order to keep a tight cover to bar clearance, we crafted a bar with quad bends in order to bypass recessed license plate cavity.
☆ The CRX bumper cover is shallow and does not provide much distance to the rear bulkhead. Rather than using steel tube and plate, we designed a steel box to help absorb impact. The boxed base is made of 10GA steel plate, laser cut and CNC bent/formed and TIG welded.
☆ Welded M6x1.25 nuts for ease of bumper attachment (3) & bracket assembly (4)
☆ Upright bracket are slotted for vertical bumper height
☆ Center bracket bolts onto chassis for additional support (M6 bolt & nylon nut)
☆ The 2 lower bumper fasteners are no longer required. The bumper is fasted to the bar with 3 M6 bolts and fasten to the chassis with 4 screws on the quarter panel bracket
FAQ
FAQ
Q1: Why replace the stock rear bar?
A1: The two reasons would be for weight reduction & safety. OEM rear beams are one of the first items to rust away since it traps most of the rain, snow, and salt. Rust breaks down the welds & material which reduces strength & safety of the beam. Doryoku tubular bar is a direct replacement made of stronger material yet lighter & provides built in provisions for needs of track/enthusiast cars & can be customized further.
Q2: Does this fit hatch, coupe, sedan?
A2: We scanned all 3 bumper bars & foam from EG, Del Sol & EK & overlayed the outline of all bars to design a bar that fits tightly behind the all bumper covers. The Doryoku tubular bar will work for all models of 92-00 Civic/Del Sol
Q3: What's the difference between tow strap bracket & M12 tow bung?
A3: They both do the same thing. It comes down to what your preference is. Newer cars all have thread-in tow hooks where the bung is captive to the bar.
● Using the tow bung will require you to cut a 8mm hole (smaller than dime) in your bumper cover for you to access the bung.
● Using the tow strap bracket will require you to make a thin 2-2.5" horizontal cut in your bumper to allow for the tow strap to pull through your bumper cover.
Q4: How do T-slot brackets work?
A4: T-slot allows for T-hooks to be inserted into the bar to be used as a tie-down function. See tech link:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17kXHcPqUL/
Q5: Powder coating is free/standard on your front bar, why is it extra on the rear bar?
A5: Front bars are "closed tube" design so powder coat can be applied on all surfaces. Rear bar is an "open tube" design which is harder to powder coat inside the tube whereas zinc plating submerges the bar in acid cleaning tank & plating tank to provide more coverage protection. I can apply powder coating directly over zinc for those who want to have rear bars match their front.
Q6: How do you mount rear aero/diffuser support rods?
A6: M8 threaded pucks can be welded anywhere to the bar. See tech link:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1PT4NCDeUV/
Q7: What is the weight savings over stock?
A7: Stock rear bam & foam among EG EK ranges from 14-15lbs (different part #). Doryoku rear track bar provides 5.5 to 6.5lbs weight savings. It's not so much about how much weight is removed, what's more important in any track car is "where" the weight is removed. Anytime you can remove weight from areas beyond the wheel is important. This improves the car's natural balance & gives you the control to strategically add weight back in where it's most beneficial for your setup or race series. Check out this video from Ben as he talks more about weight reduction & distribution.
